This course introduces trainees to the 3D modelling environment in TurboCAD. An array of 3D drawing, design and modify tools are covered in a practical manner using practical exercises. All 3D fundamentals are covered as well as some advanced 3D modelling.

Webinar software will be provided to all course registrants. We also provide all course content in video session format for 30 days after the training course is completed. This allows you to review the course content even if you can’t attend a specific course date(s). Note a TurboCAD trainer will also be available to answer all your questions should you miss a training session and wish to catch up on the training content.

Description

Course Details

This course introduces trainees to the 3D modelling environment in TurboCAD. An array of 3D drawing, design and modify tools are covered in a practical manner using practical exercises. All 3D fundamentals are covered as well as some advanced 3D modelling. To complete this course successfully, trainees has to be proficient in TurboCAD 2D Fundamentals.

The 2D Fundamentals Course is a pre-requisite for this 3D Design course.

Online courses will be administered by an experience & professional TurboCAD Africa trainer via a virtual platform. Webinar software will be provided to all course registrants.

You will also be provided with an attendance certificate upon successful completion.

Note all course content will be provided to you in video format on completion of the course in the format of daily video sessions. This allows you to review the course contents in your own time and should you miss a course date(s), you will still have access to the same course content as other participating attendees. Note a TurboCAD trainer will also be available to answer all your questions should you miss a training session and wish to catch up on the training content.

Course Requirements

  • Stable internet connection.
  • Basic Windows computer skills.
  • Own laptop/computer & scroll-wheel mouse.
  • Laptop/computer must have the relevant TurboCAD software installed and activated (FREE 15-day trials can be downloaded from our Download Centre).
  • A second monitor is recommended, but not compulsory.
  • The 2D Fundamentals Course is a pre-requisite for our 3D courses.
  • The 3D Training course is a pre-requisite for all Advanced TurboCAD courses.

Course Content

TurboCAD Training and Support is an accredited IMSI Training facility.

Module 1

  1. 3D Setup: Toolbars; Display Mode; ACIS Setup.
  1. The Coordinate system: World Coordinate and User Coordinate System.
  1. Orthographic and Isometric Views.
  1. Work planes: Show/Hide Work plane, Plane by Active View, Plane by World, Plane by Entity, Work plane by 3 points, Edit Current Work plane, Work plane Origin, Work plane by Facet, Show Hide Work plane Intersection.
  1. 3D Selector Properties: Reference Point, Rotator Handles, Selector Handles; Toggle 2D/3D
  2. Building a 3D object using this segment’s tasks.

 

Module 2

  1. Converting 2D Profiles to 3D objects ; 3D Thickness.
  1. Solid Objects: 3D Box, Sphere, Hemisphere, Cone, Prism, Torus, Wedge, Cylinder, Polygonal Prism.
  1. Building a 3D object using this segment’s tasks.

 

Module 3

  1. Profile objects: Revolve, Loft, Extrude (Normal Path, Defined Path,

Extrusion Twist)

  1. Building an object using all the features discussed in today’s session.

 

Module 4

  1. Discussion of the previous day’s tasks, problem solving act.
  1. 3D Assembly: Assemble by 3 Points, Assemble by Edge and Point, Assemble by Facet.
  1. 3D Modification: 3D Blend, Imprint; Sectioning a Solid, projection of profiles onto surfaces. Slicing a solid: Slice by 2/3 Points; Slice by Work plane

 

Module 5

  1. 3D Boolean Functions: 3D Add, 3D Subtract, 3D Intersection, creating Regions.
  1. Building and modifying a 3D solid using this segment’s tasks

 

Module 6

  1. Deformable Modelling: Facet Editing, Pressure Load, Deform to Point.
  1. Solid-Surface Transition: Creating: Surface from 2D profile, Solid from Surface, Surface from Solid, Solid from Facet
  1. Material Properties, Rendering, creating a rendered scene environment.
  1. Building and modifying a 3D solid using this segment’s tasks.

 

Module 7

  1. Using dimensions on solids.
  1. Creating decorative features to showcase the model, using flexible text.
  1. Creating different views of the model, creative paper space layout.
  1. Building, modifying, annotating and showcasing an object using all the features discussed in today’s session.
  1. Review of the day’s learning outcomes.
