2D Drafting and Editing

1. Automatic Updating of Xrefs

When using a file with Xrefs, if any of those external files are updated, then TurboCAD now asks if you want to regenerate the file with the updated Xref.

2. Leader Dimension Improvements

Leader dimensions in DWG files are now displayed correctly with TC2021.

4. Edit Selected Block command

Now user can edit the selected block directly within the TurboCAD drawing without having to select the Edit Content option from the Blocks Palette. This can be done by simply selecting the block and clicking “Edit Selected Block”, now added to the menu.

3. Load/Unload Xrefs

A New option “Status”, with two values: “Loaded” and “Unloaded” has been added to the Edit Xrefs dialog box. When a referenced drawing (Xref) is Unloaded from the current drawing, the drawing opens much faster and uses less memory.

When the Xref definition is unloaded from the drawing file, the internal pointer to the referenced drawing remains. You can therefore restore all the information by Loading the Xref. In order to maximize the performance of TurboCAD, it is recommended that you Unload any referenced files if they are not needed in the current drawing session but may be used later for printing/plotting

5. Select by Block command

A new entry “Block” has been added to the “Select by” commands which displays the list of blocks in the drawing and allows user to select block(s) via one click.

Architectural

1. Railing improvement

“Railing by Path” now works for arc segment created by a 2D polyline.

The new Repeat command allows user to repeat the previous command with a single click.

Text Dragger: Ability to use degree, plus/minus, diameter signs while entering text:

TurboCAD now supports Special Signs when inserting text into your drawing. The local menu includes Degree, Plus/Minus, and Diameter signs to use.

Performance Enhancements:

You will get a productivity speed boost with new drawing improvements:Drafting Objects – The creation of Sectional Views and Objects in the Drafting Palette has been significantly accelerated.
Selector Tool (Drag Selection) – When in GDI draw mode, transformation operations such as Move, Rotate and Scale have been greatly sped up.
GDI Redraw with Small Objects – For drawings containing many small objects, redraw speed has been accelerated.

2D Drafting and Editing:

Drafting Palette: Ability to Select Layer Sets:

As with Paper Space View Ports, the Drafting Palette now has an Option to select a Layer Set. The Layer Set can contain both visible and non-visible layers. Previously, drafting objects did not take into account the visibility; rather it considered all layers in the 3D object visible, so user may have gotten drafting object with un-needed information.

2D Edit Mode:

The new 2D Edit mode makes it much easier to design in 2D by turning off 3D objects, editing and modification tools. At a local menu level, only the 2D Selector is enabled, which then works with the selected object’s Coordinate System. The 2D Edit mode can be turned off by a simple click.

Constraint Animation:

Dimension values that drive angles, lengths, and distances within a constraint system can now be animated. Animating these values provide powerful visual feedback to range of motion issues common in mechanical design problems. The tool extends into 3D motion analysis when the dimension values are part of a 2D constrained sketch that is used to define 3D extruded, sweep, or lathed shapes. Animating the dimension value automatically updates not only the sketch but the dependent 3D part. The user interface provides a variety of controls to analyze the motion including step increments, range, loop, pause, and move forward or backward.

Best Fit Circle and Line:

The new Best Fit Circle and Line tools allow the user to draw a circle which is best-fitted through 3 or more defined points or a line through 2 or more points. Points can be extracted from a specified location or from a specific object.

Auto-Numbering Feature:

The Auto-numbering tool allows you to select multiple text entities and have them auto-numbered. Numbers are placed either at the end of each text block or can replace the text block.

Architectural:

Openings Modifier:

A new “Auto Modifier” option has added. With this option enabled, the Opening (wall clipping contour modifier will be generated automatically. Previously the Opening modifier had to be manually defined. If the opening modifier was not defined, then a rectangle (opening extents) was always used to make a hole on the wall. Only 3D objects are used as modifiers.

3D Design and Modeling:

Mass Properties:

By assigning a Material to a 3D Solid object, the Density of that object is applied based upon the Material. Knowing the Density and the Volume of the 3D object enables TurboCAD to display through the Mass Properties tool, that 3D objects or collection of 3D objects’ weight.

3D Surface Covering:

Modeling complex 3D shapes is now easier with the introduction of surface covering. Covering is the process of fitting a NURB surface to a set of outer curve boundaries. Covering compliments existing skinning and lofting tools with a technique often used to fill or close openings in surface models. For controlling the interior surface shape, covering also includes the option to specify guide curves. Coverings can be applied to either a 2D or 3D closed profile.

ACIS® Update:

The ACIS 3D Modeling engine has been updated to version 29.0 The Spatial ACIS (SAT, SAB, ASAT import/export) is updated to support the latest ACIS formats (28.0, 29.0).

Rendering and Visualization:

Flat Shot:

The new Flat Shot tool allows users to create a 2D view of a 3D object, including visible and invisible lines, and then save that view in the Blocks Palette. A great tool for creating stunning presentations!

Interoperability:

New Professional Mechanical CAD File Formats Added:

Select Feature or Defeature Part:

Using the Facet Editor, you can now select all similar classes of ACIS® Objects – Blend Networks, Blend Sequences, Protrusions or Depressions, of a body part simply by selecting a single facet of that part. A powerful tool for replacing or removing a feature from an imported 3D part with no History.

3D Print Check and Repair Tool:

Before sending your design to your 3D printer, gain valuable information about your 3D model regarding its printability. This new tool will effectively identify any issue in your design before sending it to the printer, and allow you to then fix it in TurboCAD. A great tool for saving you time and unnecessary wear and tear on your 3D printer.
